Michael Lorenzo-Vera at last !
9/13/2009 7:48:18 PM

European Tour player, Michael Lorenzo-Vera won the Allianz Open Paris Stade Français. Third time was the good one. He had finished twice at second place in 2006 and last year. It was really a incredible battle today.

The weather conditions were the same as previous day so players knew that avoiding mistakes could be the key better than looking for birdies.

Right after first hole, both Lorenzo-Vera and Lecuona were square. The leader dropped one shot and the race started. During 15 holes it was a kind of "cath me if you can" story. The two players alternated good strokes and switched many times on the top of the leaderboard.

But on the 16th, as Bruno-Teva Lecuona had one stroke advantage, he dropped 2 shots while his playing partner only made bogey...
They teed off all square on the last hole, felt together on the fairway and finally met again on the green in 4 for Lorenzo-Vera and 3 for Lecuona. The crowd expected a play off, Michael hit first the ball through the hole and holed it. Lecuona needed a birdy to go into extra playing holes and he missed it. He shared second position with Damien Perrier, Fabien Marty and Nicolas Mourlon.

After 2 tries, Michael Lorenzo-Vera finally put his hands on the trophy in Paris. Champagne !

Narrow margin fo Lecuona

After 54 holes, it seems that course of Stade Français Courson is stronger than players. For the first time this season, the leader is over par. Bruno-Teva Lecuona shot 76 today, +4 and dropped 2 precious strokes on the 18th hole. His total is +2 now.

One stroke behind, a group of 4 french players, Rudy Thuillier, Thomas Fournier, Micheal Lorenzo-Vera and hero of the day Fabien Marty. He confirmed his good form this season and he shared the best score of the day, 69 with ironman Jean-Pierre Cixous. Only two others players shot under par Tony Raillard and Damien Perrier, last week winner.

The leaderboard is very open and more than 15 players are within 4 strokes and could pretend to climb on the top of the podium tomorrow. The weather forecast is the same as today, no rain but 20 km wind. The 18th hole can be very dangerous and the Allianz Open Paris Stade Français is used to be the place of dramatic play-offs...

Lecuona takes charge in Paris
9/11/2009 7:07:39 PM

After second round played in a very windy day, frenchman Bruno-Teva Lecuona is the only player to be under par, -2 in total. He played 73 today and admitted it was very tough to stay focus.

« This year, we play a composite course Green-Black. On black nine holes you have wedges to play for second shot but on Green ones, it is much more 5 iron. The wind was strong, about 40 km but as the course lands in champaign it seems that it blows twice as much ! For example, I hit a 5 iron for 131 meters !
But finally, the main trouble is not to hit the greens but to holed the putts... There are many slopes and you have to be very precise not to dropp shots ! Honestly, I am happy about my results today, I wish I could say the same by the end of sunday »

Four players shared the second place, english Steve Lewton, used to play in these weather conditions and frenchmen Baptiste Chapellan, Rudy Thuillier and Thomas Fournier. They are level par after 36 holes.

European Tour player, Michael Lorenzo-Vera is +1, only 3 strokes back of the lead and could make the show this week end.

The cut is fixed at +9. It is one of the highest of the season.

Fournier at his best bet in Paris

Frenchman Thomas Fournier took one stroke advantage ahead of his fellow challenger, Bruno-Teva Lecuona. At third position, Nicolas Joakimides shot 70.

The Allianz Open Paris Stade Français is used to be a very good test of golf. In one hand, there are always European Tour players in the field. This week, Jeff Remésy, defending champion, Michael Lorenzo-Vera and Benoit Teilleria are ready to compet the Alps Tour Members. In the other hand, the course did resist very well to pros assaults.

Only seven players shot under par today and the best score this morning was 71 signed by rookie Rudy Thuillier. Ends a better marking this afternoon, it was better in terms of results but none of the stars broke the par. Fourth place is shared by english Steve Lewton and two frenchmen Alan Bihan and Baptiste Chapellan with the same score of 71.

Projected cut is +4.

Jean-François Remésy (c) AS
Remésy loves Paris !
9/14/2008 7:29:03 PM

Jean-François Remésy kept the hand on the trophy until the end... He started the day 4 shots clear of the challenger Mike Lorenzo-Vera.

The battle was tough but as many knows 'oldies but goodies", Remésy staid focuse on the target, the win.
Teeing of the 12th hole, the two men were all square at -14 but only during one hole.

Jeff finished smoothly with two birdies and finally got the famous "champagne-shower" thanks to Mike Lorenzo-Vera and Julien Guerrier, the two other players on the podium.

Catch Remésy if you can !
9/13/2008 5:59:23 PM

Talented and experimented Remésy taught all the youngters of Alps Tour what is to be a european Tour winner.
The 44 year old frenchman still lead the field by 4 strokes. He scored 66 today.

His nearest challenger is Mike Lorenzo-Vera. The young player from Biarritz had better time with his putter today and so did the putter. It didn't have to learn how to swim ! 4 birdies and one eagle, the perfect card to stay in Remésy's wheels.

Battle on top tomorrow...

Quiet day in Paris
9/12/2008 8:14:03 PM

It seems like time and scores have stopped on course of Courson. Leader Remesy shot 72 and kept first place 3 shots clear at minus 8 . Many scores in the 70's and no big surprises.

Frenchman Damien Perrier and english Philip Rowe are 3 shots behind at 5under and a group of three players including Mike Lorenzo-Vera are -4.

The cut is fixed at +3. The leader of the order of Merit of Alps Tour, Julien Grillon failed to qualified, a chance for Victor Riu to try to take the pole position.
